Major website update : www.frankthephotographer.com

I have been relatively busy and finally managed to update my food photography website www.frankthephotographer.com .
It has undergone a major graphical update with an improved, faster navigation. Since the internet has become so much faster, I am now able to combine more information into one page, making it easier for my visitors to understand what I can deliver.
I also kept most of the old features, since I believe that the amount of information presented on my website shows a lot of experience (much more than just having a slideshow of 20 images on the index page).
Almost every page has also been updated with more written information, and I also share more food and general photography tips, since I am getting a lot of inquiries from companies, who do not understand the procedures and pricing of professional photography.
The site also has some new content pages, e.g. the Touch eMenu and also new restaurant images, supermarket food features, panoramic images, advertising images and virtual tours.
Lots more updates will be coming soon.
I am also starting using google+, its on the first page on my website, you are all invited!
Please let me know of what you think about my new design :-)

Morrisons Meal Deals

I have now published some samples of the work i have recently produced for Morrisons.
These samples are scans from daily news papers like the Daily Mirror, Daily Express etc.The images are also used as huge banners in carparks and also on their website. The print quality is never the best in daily news papers, but it still gives you an idea about the setup, lighting and composition.
These are complicated composites: Indian Meal Deal, BBQ Meal Deal and Back to School Meal Deal.

New client - Morrisons

I have now been working for several month for the supermarket chain MORRISONS.
It has been a great challenge, creating complicated composites for various meal deals, either with lifestyle daylight or more enhanced flash lighting. I have also been working on the recipe card section.
They have been great meal deals, and the quality is excellent.
I love MORRISONS family butcher: http://www.morrisons.co.uk/Market-Street/Butcher/
Images will be coming soon on my website under foodphotography / supermarkets.

FOOTLOCKER Promotion

Footlocker, one of the worlds largest sports fashion retailors with more than 4000 shops around the globe, recently created a interesting guerilla marketing idea.
It was a 'graffiti' based promotion of their sport shoes with some of the main tourist attractions of London in the background.
It has been an exiting day, photographing with tripod, catching all the right moments within the timescale.

Woman's Weekly, Thinner Dinners, low fat recipes

Since a lot of people in the UK tend to eat food with too much saturated fat (about 20% more than recommended by the Government guidelines), Sue McMahon (Food Editor Woman's Weekly) created 6 amazing recipes, with less than 10g of fat per portion.

MAN DIESEL & TURBO Colchester Factory Panorama

I am very grateful for this amazing opportunity, working for one of the word leaders in Engine & Marine Systems, Turbomachinery, Power Plants, gensets,two-stroke engines for giant container ships, power units to turnkey diesel power plants, single compressors and turbines.

The main panorama within the Colchester factory was shot from a cherry picker, about 10 meters up in the air. Retouching took many days.
When you view it, its almost like flying in the air.

I also created a Virtual Tour, but still waiting for it to be published on Man Diesel website.

Panoramas for Conservatives Website

Recent Project for the website of the Hornsey and Wood Green Conservatives:
360 degree Panoramas of Hornsey, Wood Green and Crouch End plus rectilinear panorama from Alexander Palace for website header.
You can view this work on :http://new.richardmerrin.com/about-hornsey-wood-green/
I only had one particular day to do this, and it was a cloudy/sunny day, not perfect for panoramas. But with the help of photoshop we achieved great results. lots of time retouching panoramas.
I have also been aproached by police officers on almost all the shots, since i was using a professional tripod on the highstreets, but after explanation of the job, they let me carry on.

Cake Decoration Tricks

This book has been published recently by New Holland Publications, and it was one of the most difficult projects i had to photograph in my life.
Sue McMahon, the author and Food Stylist, has developed stunning ideas for cake decorating.
I spend twice the amount of time doing the retouching in comparision to photographing. The fact was, that many step by step images contained hands and fingers, which turned red due to pressure. Also many cakes or decoration were white with white details or shiny black chocolate with white contrast, some of the most difficult objects in photography.
It was a challenging job, but i always enjoy a challenge !!
